Leo rakes in ₹140 Crore Globally on Day 1

Leo opens in some terrific style at the Worldwide Boxoffice. The Thalapathy Vijay film was shattering the Boxoffice records even before its release. Now the movie is expected to mint more than INR 135 Crore globally on Day 1. This is a record for any Tamil movie as Leo will be the first Tamil film to enter the coveted INR 100 Crore on the opening day. These figures are even sweeter while taking account of the fact that Leo will be beating the previous best, Enthiran by some miles.

Now Leo is in the vicinity of uprooting records in the states of Kerala & Karnataka. As per our tracking, the movie stands at a gigantic INR 10 Crore in Kerala alone. This means that the movie has opened the barrier of a double digit opening for the first time in the history of Kerala Boxoffice. The estimated Day 1 gross in Kerala is expected to be tapping INR 12 Crore. In the state of Andhra Pradesh, Leo will only be the second best opening for a Tamil film behind 2.0 due to clash with Bhagwant Kesari.

Similarly, the movie is eyeing a record opening in the home state barring the early morning shows. Looking at the current trend, Leo will only be next to Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast which is the current record holder grossing above INR 35 Crore. If the reports are to be believed, Leo might land within INR 33 Crore and is set for a close finish with Vijay’s own Sarkar. After Leo, Thalapathy Vijay, in all probability will be enjoying the Top 3 Opening Day record in Tamil Nadu.
