Rating – 4/5
Khauf is a gripping 2025 Hindi-language web series which is a Horror psychological thriller. Created by Smita Singh and Directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan and starring Monika Panwar, Rajat Kapoor, Gitanjali Kulkarni , Abhishek Chauhan and Shilpa Shukla and more. Khauf is not just a horror series—it’s a psychological maze that keeps you on edge till the final episode, which dives deep into the psyche of women not only with fear evoked by the ghosts but also due to Loneliness and the patriarchal gaze that exists in the society; each episodes blending horror and suspense with eerie precision.

The story set revolving a Women’s hostel in Delhi and when a young woman Madhu, is moved to the hostel seeking a new start for her life. As a woman dealing with some mental conflicts due her dark past she also now feels some sinister presence in her room that grows fear day by day also her the fellow resident’s feels odd for her cause of their weird behaviour towards her. Monika Panwar delivers a scintillating performance as the lead portraying the vulnerability and resilience with utmost conviction. Rajat Kapoor as Hakim a ritualistic medical practitioner in Old Delhi who is font of performing black magic and and other demonic practices, his performance is spine chilling at parts and will give you chills at parts with his appearances , the gait he posses and his voice itself. While the supporting cast including Shilpa Shukla, Gitanjali Kulkarni, Abhishek Chauhan, Chum Darang , Shalini Vasta, Gagan Arora, Priyanka Setia, Riya Shukla, Aasheema Vardhan and Rashmi Mann all had a lasting impression with their roles played.

What makes Khauf stand out is its layered storytelling. Rather than relying on jump scares, it builds a slow-burn tension through its moody cinematography, atmospheric sound design, and intelligent script. The series expertly explores themes of repressed memories, guilt, oppressive patriarchal thoughts and collective trauma, all while maintaining a constant undercurrent of dread and fear. While exploring the Super natural tropes which is expected from a horror here the makers blends a socio-psychological realism that runs parallel to the events that takes place in different timelines culminating as the overture to the plot.
The production quality is fine with limited resources as it seems and have delivered well as what a horror flick should do mainly the visuals tropes for horror didn’t felt odd at any parts, with a haunting background score and a screenplay that feels both personal and cinematic all the credits to the makers. Some viewers might find the pacing a bit slow in the middle episodes, but it pays off with a powerful and unsettling finale that leaves you questioning reality. More than the ghost the trauma that the character’s goes through is what will shake you more as an audience.
It’s a must-watch for fans of cerebral thrillers and slow-burn horror. With stellar performances and haunting storytelling. This is one of 2025’s most memorable Indian web series.
